Fronde supports BA World Symposium Series, Wellington and Auckland 2009

Fronde is please to announce its sponsorship of the BA World Symposium in Wellington on 1-2 September 2009 and, for the first time, in Auckland on 7-8 September 2009.

Desirée Purvis, one of Fronde’s Senior Business Analysts,  will be speaking at both events on the topic Facilitate With Confidence – Avoiding Workshop Sabotage.

Synopsis

Workshops are a great way of getting a bunch of people together to talk about stuff. They are used to elicit requirements, generate ideas, or to reach consensus on a topic. But facilitating them can be tricky, especially where participants may be in conflict, disengaged, or have hidden agendas. All too often facilitators get caught out (in left field) or caught up (in emotion). In this session Desirée will provide tips for ensuring workshop success through preparation, facilitation and follow up, including a light-hearted look at some of the wonderful characters you’ll meet that could sabotage your objectives.

Speaker Bio:

Desirée is a Senior Business Analyst with Fronde Systems Group and is based in Wellington, New Zealand. She has spent over 17 years in IT in many roles including programming, operations, system administration, and management. However, she settled on business analysis as the role where she could indulge her geekiness without getting too technical. She has often been thrown in the deep end to facilitate a workshop because her handwriting on the whiteboard is readable. This experience has led her to firmly believe that preparation is the key to successful facilitation.

Desirée gained Certified Business Analyst Professional® (CBAP®) status in 2007. In March 2009 she was appointed to the IIBA’s Role Delineation Item Writer team, which developed the new CBAP® exam, based on v2.0 of the Business Analysis Body of Knowledge® (BABOK®).
