Fronde has been recognised by Habitat for Humanity in Sri Lanka for its fundraising efforts after the Boxing Day Tsunami 2004 which devastated many lives.
The money raised by the company and its employees enabled 30 families to resume their lives. All together 120 people have benefited from this project. The houses are 300 sq ft and consist of two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and an attached toilet. The walls are built of cement blocks, the roofs are of calicut tiles, cement floors and wooden door and windows. Habitat for Humanity Sri Lanka (HFHSL) continues to be one of the few NGOs who are still involved in building permanent shelter for the tsunami survivors. To date, HFHSL has built 2,213 houses under its Disaster Response unit for tsunami survivors.
