Summer has arrived this week, with 20+ temperatures in Auckland accompanied by the usual muggy humidity – always a sure sign that Christmas is approaching. We hear it has even been warmish in Wellington.
As we head towards the summer holidays it is common to review the year’s events and sum up the mood of the year. Instead, two of this month’s blog posts on the Fronde blog looked back more than a year for their inspiration and the third is cutting/bleeding edge.
In 2007 Fronde was involved in the very first Agile Barcamp in Wellington, and next month we’re hosting the absolute newest one – as one of the organisers has noted, it has been interesting to see the growth of Agile over the past two years and the BarCamp on December 12 should be a great reunion for the early practitioners!
Also in 2007, Fronde started a relationship with Roger Sessions, the originator and exponent of the Simple Iterative Partitions approach to solution architecture. Roger has recently been out here again working with Auckland-based Paulo Rocha (now ex-Fronde) to continue his pioneering work.
James Valentine, our Cloud guru (although I wouldn’t call him that to his face) has been presenting to various groups on the implications and opportunities of the Cloud, and he has given us a peep at the presentation he gave at KANZ at the start of the month.
And we have had our own Cloud moment this month, as Fronde completed its switch to Gmail and Google Apps for our internal staff. Watch this space for an interview with the project team to get the low-down on how they did it!
