Beginning of Spring Blog Summary

Spring has sprung, the grass has ris, I wonder where the birdie is? While I am of the opinion that seasons begin and end at either a solstice or an equinox, and not some tidy first-day-of-the-month date, if you live in Wellington you would agree that Spring has made its presence felt as of 1 September.

Talking about Spring…it was announced in August that Fronde’s partner SpringSource is to be acquired by VMWare. This is further exciting news for SpringSource who early this year acquired Hyperic. For many IT professionals only one of these brands would be known to them. Each representing quite different areas within a solution: VMWare – virtualised servers that help you utilise your hardware investment better; Spring – a Java software development framework for building enterprise scale applications; and Hyperic – an operations management and monitoring suite. However, when we line these products up together we can see that there is a lot of synergy and we should expect good things from this alliance.

In other news for Fronde we were very excited to win Microsoft’s 2009 Community Impact Solution of the Year with the Ministry of Education’s Enrolment Management System and to be a finalist in the 2009 TUANZ Innovation Awards.

Over on the blog we remain very interested in all things cloud. James Valentine provides another worthwhile look at what the cloud is in his post on The Cloud Computing Continuum, and Rochelle Glover asks and answers the questions “So, what is a business analyst?” and “What does a business analyst do?” in her post.

Finally, if you are interested, the next equinox is due on 22 September. So enjoy  a very early Spring.
